Gold, Silver Business Flat in Early Trade
NEW DELHI: Gold and silver prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange were trading on flat note in early trade on Friday following subdued demand for precious metals from jewellers, industries and retailers. The yellow metal was trading 0.02 per cent up at 29,175 per 10 gram in early trade, while the white metal was up 0.15 per cent at 42,247 per 1 kg. Nirmal Bang Commodities said, “We expect prices to trade range bound for the day, on expectations of US Federal Reserve rate hike in March.” SPDR Gold Trust GLD, the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, said its latest holdings stood at 845.32 tonnes, up 1.78 tonnes, from previous business day. Holdings of the largest silver-backed exchange-traded-fund (ETF), New York's iShares Silver Trust SLV, stood at 10,424.54 tonnes down 3.88 tonnes, from previous business day.
